Tube Lines
Tube Lines has 30 years Public Private Partnership contract with London Underground for the maintenance and upgrade of the entire infrastructure on the Jubilee, Northern and Piccadilly lines, which together carry 40% of all London Underground passengers. Working on the largest improvement programme the Tube has ever seen, with over £4.5 billion investment, Tube Lines’ vision is to deliver an outstanding Tube for the UK’s capital.
In early 2007, Tube Line HR team recognised that their recruitment was not efficient in a market place where there is a severe candidate shortage. This was mainly due to:
- Lack of awareness of Tube Lines as a major employer
- Not right quantity or quality of candidates
- Over reliance on contractors and other expensive type of resources
Independent RPO was recommended to Tube Lines and in June 2007 IRPO undertook a complete recruitment review of Tube Lines resourcing processes.
In a four week period, we completed over 40 meetings, with directors, managers, HR managers, candidates and suppliers.
All possible information relating to the recruitment process was collated and audited, gathered and analysed resulting a 79 page document.
The recruitment review was then presented back to the Tube Lines Senior HR team to highlight the strengths and weaknesses in their current recruitment process. With clear recommendations outlined and listed in a simple workable format, the Tube Lines team could see exactly what is needed to be done in order to improve their recruitment process.
As part of the findings and as a result of the audit document, Independent RPO has now been commissioned to assist the Tube Lines team in finding the most suitable resourcing model to support the strategic business plan.
The review findings and proposal on the best way forward has been presented to board level.
